Senior Network Engineer -- Hayward, CA
Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of networking processes, implementing, managing and troubleshooting existing Cisco network and system environments, as well as supporting a variety of hardware. Ensures that the performance and availability of the server and network infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards in order that maximum productivity is achieved. Maintains efficient and trouble-free operation of all local and remote data communication. Provides a leadership role for the Network Team, including Network Engineers, Network Administrators and Network Operations. The duties will include working closely with Interactive Data Corporation business units to design, build, document and support the network infrastructure of the Interactive Data core network. The candidate will be responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of commercial and inhouse network management tools on both Windows and Linux platforms.

Key Responsibilities
- Develops and implements design and configuration standards for the network infrastructur,e including routers, switches and hubs
- Evaluates, recommends, implements and manages firewall and remote access solutions
- Works with the Senior Network Administrator to develop and implement design and configuration standards for Microsoft and Linux server hardware, server operating systems and directory services
- Develops and implements security standards for the network infrastructure, which includes but is not limited to routers, switches, servers, firewalls, user access and remote access
- Evaluates, recommends, implements and uses server and network management and monitoring tools
- Provides network capacity analysis and recommendations, as necessary
- Manage change management for the network infrastructure
- Provides project management for Network Team projects
- Develops, improves and sets the standards for network documentation, practices and procedures
- Participates in rotating "on call" schedule with other members of the team
- Administers CheckPoint / Netscreen firewalls
- Assists with various Network Engineer Level I and II responsibilities
Required Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent)
- 3+ years of experience with IT / Campus / Local Area Network management (switching, VLANs, Multicast Networks)
- Experience in managing and implementing Multicast Networks running both Sparse and Dense mode, a must
- Experience with Cisco routers and switches, required
- Experience with DNS and DHCP
- Experience in implementing and maintaining OSPF / EIGRP / BGP routing protocols
- In-depth knowledge of TCP / IP fundamentals (including Layers 2, 4 - 7 content switching)
- Good LAN troubleshooting skills (net. device and system level), a must
- Thorough understanding of network security aspects, common problems and solutions (ACL, firewall filtering, and VPN), a must
- Experience with network change management control tools and policies
- Experience with several Network Monitoring and other network administration tools
- Excellent written and orbal communication skills
- Creative problem-solving abilities
- Network certifications (CCNA, CCNP or equivalent training / experience), required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Unix / Linux / Windows administration, a plus
- Familiarity with the installation and support of telecommunications circuits
- Familiarity with traffic from financial data markets
